The Old Bakehouse
Robin Hood’s bay | Yorkshire
A cracking home from home, The Old Bakehouse Cottage in Sunny Place, Robin Hoods Bay, is a curl-up-with-a-book sort of place with the North Sea just round the corner crashing against the sea walls. But when the tide retreats the beach is a world of rock pools, fossil hunting and numerous coastal walks will await.
A white-painted former bakehouse on a cobbled walkway called Sunny Place, deep in the labyrinth that is lower ‘Baytown’, the property retains many traditional features but offers comforts of the modern day. This fabulously located cottage is within a stones throw of everything Robin Hoods Bay has to offer.
This home makes you feel warm as soon as you arrive and is filled with the character you would expect from a period cottage. Watch out for the sloping ceilings, exposed beams, wonky floors and relax and curl up with a book with the North Sea just round the corner crashing against the sea walls.

My husband and I stayed at the Old Bakehouse as a birthday retreat last week and can’t recommend the cottage highly enough. Nestled in such a beautiful location the cottage feels so steeped in history but with all the modern touches to have a lovely and comfortable stay. We loved the traditional features in-keeping with the Bakehouse’s history and the communication and information from Richard was great. Just like the cottage, Robin Hood’s Bay is so picturesque and full of history. There are some lovely traditional pubs to visit just a few minutes walk away and some great shops nearby too. We can’t wait to hopefully come back soon.
It was a cute and cosy cottage with everything we needed for a romantic weekend away, as well as being in a brilliant location.
A pretty quiet cottage close to amenities. A restful midweek break. Tastefully decorated. A real home from home. Beautiful walks. My highlight were the seal colonies at nearby Ravenscar. Worth the cliff walk. Would highly recommend this cottage.
We have stayed in lots of holiday cottages all over the UK. but none have the “Wow factor” you get when arrive at the Old Bakehouse. The love that has gone into this place is evident and the attention to detail is stunning – We are recommending this place to everyone!
Lovely, cosy cottage – would definitely stay here again!
Amazing cottage, fantastic location, its made a wonderful holiday.
The cottage is a charming place to be, beautiful, peaceful and all that is needed for a relaxing stay in this unique place. We have been coming to Robin Hoods Bay for 13 years and yours is the cosiest place we’ve ever had.
The cottage is beautiful : perfect balance of stylish décor and practicality- very relaxing and cosy. We have loved it here, a little piece of heaven tucked away somewhere spectacular.
Truly stunning, so relaxing.
What a great cottage so full character. The boys loved the “attic experience”
Loved the cottage and the decor, nicest we’ve been in.
What an amazing stay: The Old Bakehouse is truly beautiful Its perfect in every way.
We had a fantastic break in The Old Bakehouse, the cottage is stunning and was a perfect place to rest and recuperate after long walks on the beach and day trips around the surrounding areas.
The Old Bakehouse is such a lovely, beautifully decorated and cosy cottage on a very quiet Robin Hood’s Bay street. It’s a home from home and I did not want to leave. We spent most evenings cosied up with a meal and a book in front of the stove with the dog contentedly snoring on the rug. I love RHB and would not hesitate to book The Old Bakehouse again.
An amazing AirBnB in a beautiful part of the world – would highly recommend Richard’s cottage and Robin Hood’s Bay. Richard was a super host – we’ll be back!
