Booked this as a last minute escape from building work for the weekend. Richard was incredibly friendly and quick to respond. The cottage is in an idyllic location with incredible views from the back of the house, and the inside is just as good! Every room was immaculately clean, and furnished perfectly to create a lovely, cosy home for our family. The attention to detail was second to none, and Richard had even left us a fantastic welcome hamper which started our Friday night perfectly! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to get some much needed rest and relaxation. Plenty to do in the local area for adults and children of all ages. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a brilliant weekend!

A former millworker’s cottage built around 1850 on the banks of the River Derwent and overlooking woodland and hills. Fronting a street scene of listed cottages providing a quiet neighbourhood with a bygone feel.
“brand new listing for 2023”
Beautifully restored, this cottage has a double and twin rooms, bathroom, dining room and lounge with log burner. Easy walks to pubs and restaurants. This cottage came online in December 2022 so everything is brand new. You enter off the quaint street scene into a cosy lounge with log burner and large comfy sofa. Adjoining is the modern kitchen with oven and hob, fridge freezer , washing machine. Leading off the kitchen down some quite steep steps is the private yard which is a perfect sun trap.
Going up the original stone stairs you find a dining room filled with vintage furniture overlooking the River Derwent and Chevin hills. On this floor is the twin room with its black iron beds, original fireplace and sash window. Also the traditional bathroom suite is on the first floor featuring bath and shower over. Finally up some steep original stairs tucked away on the 2nd floor is the master bedroom with its double bed. We’d advise this room for mobile adults only.

We had a wonderful stay at Richard’s cottage, who ensured we had all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay and even went above and beyond with a surprise hamper full of goodies. The cottage is tastefully furnished and well located. Milford is a lovely town with a number of great restaurants and scenic trails. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay near Peak District.
Such an adorable little cottage, perfect for a relaxing and peaceful short break. Richard was a great host with great communication right from the time of booking. Thorough instructions provided for check-in and upon arrival we were greeted with a lovely welcome hamper which was a nice suprise. The cottage was immaculately clean throughout with everything needed for our time there including towels, toiletries and everything required in a fully functioning kitchen. The children loved the extra touches like the Christmas tree, books and games. The fire was so nice on a winters night! Would definitely recommend this cottage and great host. Thank you for a great stay Richard.
Me and my partner had a lovely weekend stay here which had everything we wanted and needed for a relaxed few days away. Would absolutely recommend!
This cottage is absolutely beautiful. I had booked it for my parents to stay in for the weekend and it was perfect. Beautiful, cosy and spotlessly clean. Richard was so helpful with his instructions and even provided a lovely welcome hamper for them on arrival. Definitely will be staying again! Thank you 🙂
We have stayed in lots of holiday cottages all over the UK. but none have the “Wow factor” you get when arrive at the Old Bakehouse. The love that has gone into this place is evident and the attention to detail is stunning – We are recommending this place to everyone!
Lovely, cosy cottage – would definitely stay here again!
Amazing cottage, fantastic location, its made a wonderful holiday.
The cottage is a charming place to be, beautiful, peaceful and all that is needed for a relaxing stay in this unique place. We have been coming to Robin Hoods Bay for 13 years and yours is the cosiest place we’ve ever had.
The cottage is beautiful : perfect balance of stylish décor and practicality- very relaxing and cosy. We have loved it here, a little piece of heaven tucked away somewhere spectacular.
Truly stunning, so relaxing.
What a great cottage so full character. The boys loved the “attic experience”
Loved the cottage and the decor, nicest we’ve been in.
What an amazing stay: The Old Bakehouse is truly beautiful Its perfect in every way.
We had a fantastic break in The Old Bakehouse, the cottage is stunning and was a perfect place to rest and recuperate after long walks on the beach and day trips around the surrounding areas.
The Old Bakehouse is such a lovely, beautifully decorated and cosy cottage on a very quiet Robin Hood’s Bay street. It’s a home from home and I did not want to leave. We spent most evenings cosied up with a meal and a book in front of the stove with the dog contentedly snoring on the rug. I love RHB and would not hesitate to book The Old Bakehouse again.
